Diastatic Malt Extract
|
|
British DiaMalt celebrated its centenary on 27th January 2005. The company has been manufacturing and supplying the Worldwide food and beverage industry with premium malt products for 100 years and has become a world leading manufacturer and exporter of high diastatic malt extract and low diastatic malt extract. Our factory, based in Newark-on-Trent, has a unique separate diastatic malt extract plant. As we have also have a non-diastatic plant, our production of diastatic malt extract is uninterupted.
We manufacture an extensive range of liquid diastatic malt extract and dried diastatic malt extract for a variety of applications including brewing, baking and as a food ingredient.
Diastatic malt extract is a natural product used to provide a valuable source of flavourings and enzymes. Diastatic malt extracts are made from the aqueous extract of malted barley and are supplied as 70-82% solids viscous liquids or as hygroscopic band dried powders. By carefully controlling the evaporation process during concentration the naturally occurring enzymes in the original malt are preserved, enabling the end user to make use of the enzyme activity.
If you only have a very small requirement, our John Bull Bulldog Blends Canned Malt Extract range includes Diastatic Malt Extract in a 1.6Kg can available from beer and wine kit retailers.
Below is an example of some of our extensive range of diastatic malt extracts. The figures given represent a typical analysis. Variations to colour, solids, pH and Diastatic Power can be made to suit customer requirements. For example, our solids contents for the UK market is 80 +/-1%, for warmer climates this figure is increased to 81 +/- 1%.
100° Lintner is approximately equal to 9540° Pollack or 240° W.K.(Windisch-Kolbach).
